Fedor and Company Target Brock Lesnar
Sherdog reports that :

The line has started to form behind Brock Lesnar and Fedor Emelianenko has joined it.

The world’s top-ranked heavyweight and his team of managers voiced their interest on Tuesday in having the touted Russian meet the newly crowned UFC heavyweight champion in “a co-promoted event between the UFC, M-1, and Affliction Entertainment,” according to a prepared press release.

Lesnar dropped perennial favorite Randy Couture at UFC 91 last Saturday three minutes into the second round with a glancing right hook to the living legend’s neck before pouncing on the six-time champion with a flurry of chopping hammerfists for the stoppage.

Couture (16-9) -- who campaigned for a fight with Emelianenko for nearly a year outside the UFC during a contract dispute -- was down on the scorecards, but gaining momentum after he cut Lesnar over his right eye with an angular punch just a moment before his opponent short-circuited his efforts.

The former WWE champion earned a title shot toting a humble 2-1 professional record, but Lesnar silenced numerous critics who condemned the matchup happening based on popularity more than merit.

“I think Lesnar fought a very smart fight,” Emelianenko told Sherdog.com on Tuesday. “It was very interesting to watch. I think one of his strengths was that -- I was impressed by his speed in the fight. I think just from watching the fight, each fighter was waiting for the other one to make a mistake and I think Lesnar was very fortunate to have caught Randy and prevail.”

Of course they are,it would be an easy MILLION dollar 1st rd submission for Fedor and Dana White knows it so there's not a chance in fucking hell that he'll ever let this fight jump off!!!!!!!!

Translation of Fedor's words: "Hey, I just lost at the Sambo Championships, so I feel a bit blemished. How about I beat up Lesner, make a cool mill, and win the belt ALL in one night? Where do I sign?"

Good ol' double talk.....

Dana White's feelings about Fedor have been splashed across many blogs, but the crux of the matter has to be that UFC does not do cross promotions, and as their profits reportedly approach $200 million a year, can't see any reason they would start now.

Watched the Lesnar/Couture fight several times yesterday, and contrary to Fedor's comment above, if he was saying Lesnar got lucky, then it's back to that old Japanese saying, "Luck is where preparation meets opportnity," and Brock was prepared. He's got several fights ahead of him on the current UFC schedule, with the winner of Mir/Nogueira, and then whoever that matchmakers think will pique the interests of the fans, if he makes it past that initial challenge.

The real MMA fans will want to see Emelianenko/Lesnar, but that same fan base was very vocal in wanting to see the Fedor/Randy fight, and that one didn't happen. Just read that Fedor got beaten in the Sambo championships in Russia, so maybe his motivation is not what it once was, or perhaps he needs a new challenge, like a 265 pound wrestler who is likely as strong and as fast as anyone Fedor has faced. A lot of people didn't give Brock a chance against Couture, and he's wearing the belt
